Attached is a photo of our dog Abby (named Ivy at the shelter) who we adopted from you
2.5 years ago at 7 months of age. We thought she might someday grow into her ears,
but as you can see, that never happened. Her hearing, however, is excellent. She
can be fast asleep on the sofa, hear a squirrel rustle a tree limb and be halfway
across the yard within .02 seconds. Abby also has a lovely singing voice, and in
the evenings we often have a "family howl." She is bouncy bouncy bouncy and is
very excited about every little thing in the whole wide world. Quite frankly,
she acts like a complete idiot most of the time, but we love her very much.
She is pictured at our wedding, which I'm sure she thought was thrown entirely
for her benefit, with all sorts of friendly people and lots of snack-sized food.
Thanks for adopting her to us, Laura and Dan (11/2006)

Your Ramsey is now our Clouseau (named for Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther movies).
He is a delightful, curious, affectionate, spunky kitten, either purring in our laps,
airborne chasing his feather toy (sometimes with glorious pratfalls), or trying to get
our four-year-old cat to romp with him. She's slowly warming to him, and there've been
some games of bat-paws and chase. We lost our 17-year-old cat in August, on the very
day Clouseau, who was a stray, went into your foster care program, which is an interesting
coincidence. He's such a joy to have around that it's kind of hard to leave the house
right now. Many thanks to HSC and his foster family!

We adopted Maggie about six months ago. She's doing wonderful. She is the sweetest dog.
She loves to go to the dog park to socialize and to look for deer in the fields outside
the fence. Thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt her.

Here's a photo of Taylor and Skye, the pit bulls I adopted from the Culpeper shelter.
They are with my cat, Socket, who arrived at the shelter with a ruptured cornea,
so I adopted him and paid for the surgery to remove his eye. I love this picture
because everyone talks about how aggressive pits are, but here mine are sleeping
with a one-eyed cat!

Just thought I would share the pictures from Zoe's first camping trip this weekend!
We had a great time, she got lots of attention from everyone passing by.
Thanks for the puppy kindergarten info, I really appreciate all of your advice and help with her.
It has made her life and ours much better!

I've forgotten how difficult it is to get pictures of kittens! Holy cow, they never stop moving.
I have lots of great sleeping pictures, but not so many good action shots. We're having so much fun
with Tweeters. She loves attention and even sleeps across my neck sometimes. She likes tummy rubs
and is even getting along okay with her new big brother. She particularly likes feather toys and
drags them around the house, even the stick toys. We typically wake up to find cat toys on the bed.
Definitely a happy ending! Thank you for our crazy girl!

Dear Foster Mom,
Well it's been a long journey, but I'm finally home. You should see my new house. It's got 3 bedrooms and an upstairs and downstairs. I ran all around the
house. My new dad put together a seat just for me to sit on when I want to look out the window. They also bought me new brushes, and mom brushed me for a very long time. I loved it. Mom had a very long day today so she rested, and I jumped up on the bed next to her. I sat on dad's lap while he was watching T.V. and bumped his chin because he wasn't petting me enough. I'm having a good time here, my new mom and dad just love me very much. They're thinking about talking to you in the future about getting me a brother or sister. Thanks for taking care of me for so long. I wouldn't be here today if you didn't give me a home to live in until I found them.

Here are the pictures of Luke with his new sister Leia. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

I just wanted to send an update on Chloe. She is doing great, has EVERYTHING figured out.
Loves her new life and is quite the well mannered young lady! Her favorite things are
swimming in the creek or pond and sleeping in front of the giant fan in the barn.
She gets along wonderfully with everyone else. Thanks so much for her!

In late April I had the pleasure of becoming a foster mom to four tiny Maine Coon Mix kittens.
We had a rough beginning as they had no idea of how to use a litter box or groom themselves.
Sometime during the next four or five weeks, my husband and I fell in love with Riley. She was
small and sickly, but she was becoming such a great joy. We fostered the 3 other kittens
until they were adopted, but couldn't seem to part with Riley. She is the little love bug
that we had waited for. She is now healthy, and she loves to cuddle. She sleeps on a pillow
in the middle of our bed, she "yells" at me when she is hungry and loves to climb in my
purse! One of these days she is going to end up at work with me! I wanted to thank the
Humane Society for the opportunity to meet Riley, our personal fluffball, and fall in
love with her. She means the world to us.

In August 2005, I adopted Samson. With his adoption anniversary approaching,
I had to write and tell everyone how great the fit has been. Since I got Samson he's
been such a great dog to be around, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. He
now weighs in at about 100 lbs, but is very much a gentle giant. He knows many tricks
and commands, but my two favorites are "bang, bang play dead" and "take a bow."
Both tricks are a hit with everyone he meets. Samson has earned his Canine Good
Citizen certificate, but I'm still taking him to training classes so I can eventually
get him tested to be a therapy dog. Attached is a picture of Samson (lying down)
with his "sister" and "best friend forever," Gretchen (sitting). Thank you so much
for allowing this great dog to be adopted by me and thank you to whoever wrote his
description for the website. I was looking for a dog who would get along with my
cats so the line "his best friend was a cat" is the reason I came to visit him.
If that line hadn't been there I probably would've missed out on this great dog.
Thanks again, Steph (7/2006)

We adopted Marshall exactly three years ago today, on the 4th of July. At the time he was 35 pounds,
skinny, scared and pretty much terrified of the world. He had issues with submissive urination.
A day after his adoption, we noticed he was limping and took him straight to the vet,
who discovered our sweet boy had a gunshot wound to his front left leg! Marshall will
always walk with a limp, since the leg healed shorter than the others, but he is not in any pain.
Since we've had him he has grown up into a 70-pound gorgeous husky mix. He is still very scared
of strangers, but has made significant improvements with us. He loves his life and all of his canine siblings.
He is absolutely one of the greatest joys in our life, we can't imagine life without this sweet boy.
Thank you so much for rescuing him. We couldn't have adopted a sweeter dog. Attached is a picture of
Marshall running in the snow, one of his favorite winter activities.
All the best, Alex (7/2006)

We were so happy to find Chloe at Petsmart!! Since adopting her on Memorial Day,
she has been adjusting wonderfully to her new home. Even our two cats are tolerating her.
Our vet thinks she is a boxer, border collie, and pointer mix. All that in a 40lb package!!
She has so much energy in her little body!! We have started dog training, she has attended
2 lessons now and is learning very fast. We can't wait till she grows out of the mouthing and chewing stage!
She is a star in our neighbourhood!! All the children love her and look forward to her
coming out to play in the afternoon!! She is amazing with children!! She just needed to
learn some manners and have a chance to exercise.
Thank you for all the good work you do!!

We adopted Quincy 12 days ago and love our new friend. She has settled in quite nicely and she
has reaped the rewards of our many trips to Petsmart. We probably most enjoy the smile and
greeting she gives us when we return home. Her left upper lip curls up into this incredibly
funny "smile" and her whole body is set in motion by the tail wag. You certainly feel as if
you were missed. She is very well behaved in the house and loves to play with her toys.
She has yet to meet a squeaker toy she couldn't silence! Thanks for all the assistance
in helping us find the right dog for us. Thanks also to Quincy's foster mom who took
such great care of her before we adopted her. I know she misses you but hopefully she
can feel she is loved by her new family and that she has found her forever home.
Thanks again! Dawn, Dennis, and kids (6/2006)

We wanted to say thank you to everyone for helping us find the last piece to our family puzzle,
Baby Blue. She is a very sweet, loving puppy who is growing like a weed. She came to us a tiny
little 8 pounds and after just over month she is going on 19 pounds of attention-grabbing
crazy pup! She has become a new best friend/little sis to our 2 young children. Our family
is very happy to have her, and we thank you all!
(6/2006)

Thank you again for a great dog and your assistance with it all! She is quickly becoming friends with our kitty.

Just wanted to let you know how well Nala has adjusted to life with her new family.
Honestly it's like she's been with us her whole life. We just love her, and she loves
us all too ... especially my four-year-old niece. We got Nala especially for her, and
it's as if they both know it! She is great with my two-year-old niece too and tolerates
all the affection...bless her heart!
I felt bad when the folks that Nala lived with before gave her up due to a baby ...
but their loss has certainly been our gain and now I believe with all my heart that
this was meant to be. I've attached a picture of my niece with "her" baby, and I
think it's pretty obvious how much they truly love each other.
Thanks for letting me share ... take care and keep up the great and wonderful work that you do.
Sincerely, Karen (6/2006)
